Last week, I met with the head of a family office who also happened to be a scientist.

He introduced me to a concept called the Inverse Square Law and the business application of it.

If you’ve never heard of the inverse-square law, the law says a specified quantity is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source of that quantity.

Understanding the inverse-square law is important because, in business, the inverse-square law means as you get further away from the source of money, it becomes increasing more difficult to collect on that money.

If you’re in business, it means the longer you wait to be paid by a customer or client that owes you money, the less likely you will actually get your money.

So if you have customers or clients, get paid right away.

And teach this to your kids to help them become better business people.
